Al Chalabi
Al is an experienced business and finance executive who has been based in Asia for 16 years. Before joining CASP-R in Hong Kong, Al was Chief Financial Officer at LDM Ltd, a luxury retail developer and manager. Al has extensive experience in setting up, growing and managing businesses with a focus on real estate for the past six years.
Prior to this, Al was the Regional Director of Operations & Finance for two major real estate service companies. Under this role, he oversaw the functions of finance, human resources, legal, policies & procedures, IT and administration. Also under this role, Al was the regional lead for transitioning two major real-estate outsourcing contracts.
Previously, Al spent much of his career as a management consultant, advising multi-nationals on various aspects of their corporate strategy and operations in the Asia Pacific region. Al has also worked as Director of Strategy and Business Development for a Hong Kong-listed investment manager. Companies worked for include CB Richard Ellis, Trammell Crow Company, EDS, AT&T, Lehman Brothers, Swire Group, Hongkong International Terminals, the Malaysian Government and CIMB Bank.
Al started his career as a Systems Engineer with ABB in Canada, a diversified industrial conglomerate, working in their industrial process automation group.
He has also co-authored two successful business books published in the UK by Wiley and sold worldwide - "Wake Up! Survive & Prosper in the Coming Economic Turmoil" (2006) and “The Top 10 Investments for the Next 10 Years” (2008), which has been updated and released in paperback as “The Top 10 Investments to Beat the Crunch” (2009).
Al holds an MBA in finance and management and a bachelor of engineering degree in Aeronautics & Astronautics.
